Rainbows and Fire!

One of my spheres is made of Opalite and is a very cool item to have. Especially if you have children, the physical attributes of the stone are very magical and very neat to look at.

The stone goes from opaque with iridescence to completely translucent when turned under the light, and when sitting, the way that the light draws into the stone in nicer pieces causes an orange glow underneath, almost like fire.

I took a photo of it in my office with the camera flash on and you can see a bit of the fiery glow radiating and has an opaque look to it. The flash drowns out the orange glow but you can see it on the southwest section of the crystal.

Here I turned the camera flash off and walked into the living room so that I could get a better photograph of the fire that shoots out of the bottom of it. Isn't that freaking awesome?! :)

In this photo it is sitting on my desk and the light in this area causes the stone to become translucent. In this light it is completely see-through although it doesn't appear that way in the photo, and in real life, looks like you are looking into a big soap bubble that was blown and is floating across the air. Reflecting off of the flute stand you can see a slight reflection of the red shooting out of the bottom of the stone again.

Looking through it when it goes translucent reminds me of my fish tank for some reason lol.
