For whatever reason I have a fascination with seeing how artists would render me on canvas. I was looking around at options available to have a portrait of me created. In August of 2005 I made contact with artist, Jessica Dougherty. She appeared to be the best artist for what I want to have done.

When I was a senior in high school, my boyfriend at the time had a bust portrait of me painted which was very well done. Especially since the artist gave me an endowment of much larger boobage and some pretty awesome cleavage...which I don't have IRL. The painting is currently on the wall at my parent's place.

Back to Jessica and her work, since she is located outside of the state of California, I emailed her several photographs of myself including photos from previous modeling shoots I had done, as well as photos of me with no makeup on, profile shots, etc.

One of the photos I had sent was especially attractive to her and she mentioned that she would like to work with the pose to create my portrait. I gave her the go-ahead using the original copy of the photo on the left.

Actually in this photograph I had two tattoos on my right shoulder at the time. They were airbrushed out by the original photographer and I wanted those included in my portrait. I sent Jessica some photographs of the tattoos that were brushed out of the photo and she began to do her magic.

What I wanted was my image incorporated with my signature flower, the Japanese Cherry Blossom. Cherry Blossoms have been a part of my personal website's design for many years, as well as it is the main theme design used on my weblog when I don't have a seasonal layout up.

Jessica sent a pencil drawing version of her concept to me for my approval. (Our communication was mostly via email) I was immediately impressed with how well it was drawn out and was looking forward to receiving more communication regarding the progress of the piece.

After I approved the concept drawing I waited anxiously for the next steps to arrive in my email box...

During the next stage, she inquired about the coloration, placement of the tattoos, etc., and once she got my approval would continue to work on detailing with my hair, face, and the blossoms. I was very pleased with the vibrant colors she was using. She had my approval to continue and would send her next update shortly.

I received the image above as the next part of the approval process. Here she asked if the details in the face and hair met my approval. I thought the portrait was coming along to look just fantastic!

During the next phase she began to color in and detail the cherry blossom backdrop and there was a pistil on one of the cherry blossoms that I wasn't too happy about regarding its position in the portrait.

I mentioned to her that the pistil of the cherry blossom was in an awkward position related to my "woman bits" and would like to have it moved or removed to keep the already racy piece of work in good taste.

We exchanged a laugh in the emails with this one, and she fulfilled my request with no problems at all. Rather quickly in fact!

At the end when all was final with detail, she asked for one last approval. After everything was approved I received an 11x14 print in the mail. I think it turned out absolutely gorgeous. I wish I had a great looking tan just like that in real life!

A very big thank you to Jessica for her work. I am still very impressed and pleased with the piece and would recommend her services to anyone looking to have portraiture done. She was truly professional, kept wonderful communication throughout the process. Thank you, Jessica!
