Travel Album - Viva Las Vegas

This particular trip was to go and see the NASCAR races.
Star Trek Bar - Hilton, and the Stratosphere.
There weren't many places to be able to take pictures since they do not allow them inside the casinos. The Star Treak bar had no gaming in it, so pictures were welcome. A friend and I take a picture. At this point I've probably slammed four apple martinis. Can you tell?

The guy in the picture in the back we met at the bar along with his wife. They were visiting from the midwest. We all had a great time telling jokes over slamming a few drinks. This is me staying farrrrrrr away from the windows which showed a view of the city from about 300/400 feet.

I'm afraid of heights. Yikes! Luckily, Rick was nice enough to take this picture for me of the city from the top of The Stratosphere Rick was also nice enough to take this picture for me too.

A picture of the Bellagio hotel on the strip. Later that year a second trip was taken to see the dragsters. The trip to Vegas for the NHRA races was great!  I went with my buddy, Rick, and out on the town we did some hotel hopping to see the different new hotels that we hadn't seen yet, did the usual alcohol testing. We went on a helicopter ride and toured the strip, and for the first time I got to see the older part of Las Vegas where the Lucky Lady Casino, and the old Horshoe Casino, etc. was located. Wow! Here are the highlights!

The Helicopter Ride

It was cool and scary at the same time!!!

My first ride in a helicopter!

The vibration made it so that the pictures came out a little blurry.

I was sitting shotgun!

We were going so fast the pictures all came out blurry. This is one example.

Coming up on the Stratosphere hotel and casino.

Nascar Cafe at the Sahara Hotel and Casino

Rick drinks Miller Lite, so I now have an affinity for the Miller Lite cars at the races.

Rick has his pic taken in front of the Miller Lite car.

There was a shop where you could even buy Nascar clothing!

This car is at the entrance of the place!

The memorial was very beautiful.

A memorial to Dale Earnhardt.

The Hard Rock Cafe and Casino

A bunch of televisions at the center of the bar playing the latest music and videos.

The centerpiece of the Hard Rock Cafe.

The caption pretty much speaks for itself.

The guitars of famous players.

An empty spot. I only took five pics. They don't let you take pictures in the casino's and stuff so I was a bit limited.
Rock on!

Jimmi Hendrix' robe and one of his guitars.

I took the KISS pictures for my friend Darla.

A guitar and cymbal from one of the members of KISS.

The mannequins looked just like them!

Mannequins of the KISS band behind glass.

The MGM Grand Lions

This made me sad that they were held captive. They did seem to be in good health, though.

The lions were sleeping on top of the glass. I took a pic from underneath.

It was cool to see them up close from underneath the glass.

Both of them were sleepy!

This one was yawning and sticking out his tongue quite a bit.

This one lets out a big yawn.

Driving the Las Vegas Strip

Paris hotel had a smaller version of the Eiffel Tower which was still huge!

Paris hotel and Casino.

This picture does the hotel no justice. It is by far, one of the most beautiful architectures I've experienced.

A quick small picture of the Venetian Hotel.

A familiar look of coming up to the MGM grand.

Driving towards the MGM Grand!

To need a map is to admit defeat!!!

Rick navigating and piloting the car along the strip.

I prefer the Monte Carlo to gamble at. It's a very friendly place to lose money!!!!

The Monte Carlo hotel and casino. (My personal favorite place to gamble).

I usually take a picture of myself in cars, just like I did at Mardi Gras.

Me, anxiously awaiting to get to the race track on race day.

The Las Vegas Strip looks great at night. Traffic is a sonofabitch, but this time it was oddly quiet. The hotels seemed to say that they were all booked. Where were the people? Who knows? We stayed at the Las Vegas Hilton which has the Star Trek bar. Rick being the Trekkie, I thought it was quite fitting.  Just as we did on our last trip, we started the trip, and each day with a drink or three from the Star Trek bar called Quark's. I also learned that I'm quite the Star Trek geek too. I knew more than I thought I did. (Dammit).

Travelling with Rick is always fun. A helluvalotta interesting stories during the weekend. Getting turned around and driving around lost isn't so bad either. "Lost" is an exaggeration of one of us not knowing where to navigate to.
